Amritsar: Several Injured In Blast Near Golden Temple, Cops Say Situation Under Control

As per the police, the situation is now under control and an investigation is underway to establish the facts of the incident.

New Delhi: Several people were injured in an explosion at Heritage Street near Golden Temple in Amritsar City of Punjab late Saturday night. The blast took place near a parking lot in front of Saragarhi Sarai. 

According to media reports, a nearby restaurant was also damaged due to the impact of the blast. A police team rushed to the spot and started an investigation immediately after receiving the information.

 

Reacting to the incident, Commissioner of Police Amritsar tweeted on Sunday morning, "A news related to blasts in #Amritsar is going viral on social media, the situation is under control Investigation is on to establish the facts of the incident and there is no need to panic Urge citizens to maintain peace & harmony, advise all to fact check before sharing."

As per the police, the situation is now under control and an investigation is underway to establish the facts of the incident. Police also appealed to the people to maintain peace and harmony. 

 

Though the exact cause of the blast is yet to be ascertained, cops have said that the blast could have occurred in a gas pipeline, Times Now reported.

Citing Dr. Mehtab Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, the Tribune reported that the exact cause of the incident was yet to be ascertained. He said forensic teams were investigating the exact reason behind the 'blast'. He said only windowpanes of the nearby buildings were shattered, while no damage was caused to the buildings.
