Virat Kohli Reveals Reason Behind Team India's Loss In 2nd T20I Vs Windies

The Indian players dropped a few catches and conceded quite a few runs due to their poor fielding in the second T20I. In 5th over of the Windies' innings, Washington Sundar gifted explosive Windies opener Lendl Simmons a life by dropping his catch off speedster Bhuvneshwar Kumar's delivery

New Delhi: West Indies defeated team India by 8 wickets on Sunday to level the three-match series 1-1 and end their seven match losing streak. The Windies batsmen batted remarkably well to chase the 170-run target with 9 balls to spare. The Indian players dropped a few catches and conceded quite a few runs due to their poor fielding in the second T20I. In 5th over of the Windies' innings, Washington Sundar gifted explosive Windies opener Lendl Simmons a life by dropping his catch off speedster Bhuvneshwar Kumar's delivery. Lendl went on to score 40 off 35 balls. In the second instance, Rishabh Pant turned out to be the culprit. The Indian wicket-keeper almost pulled off a superb catch behind the stumps off Evin Lewis' outside edge but dropped it in the end as he landed on the ground. Stats reveal that since January 2018, India have lost 8 matches while batting first and have won 14 out of their 18 matches while chasing the target. However, Kohli said just numbers alone do not depict the actual story and also admitted if team India continue to field poorly, no amount of runs will be enough. "Numbers say a lot of things. They can say a lot of things that aren't there as well. I think we were good for 16 overs while batting. But then last four overs we got only thirty. We need to focus on that. Shivam's knock helped us reach 170," Virat Kohli said in a post-match presentation ceremony. "To be honest, WI bowled cutters and their change of pace did not help us. But if we field so poorly, no amount of runs will be enough. We were poor with the field in the last two games. We dropped two catches in one over. Imagine if they lost two overs in the same over. Everyone saw we need to be more brave in fielding."
