Shooter Manish Narwal Wins Gold For India At Tokyo Paralympics, Singhraj Adhana Bags Silver

Indian shooters Manish Narwal and Adhana Singhraj have won gold and silver respectively in P4 Mixed 50m Pistol SH1 event of Tokyo Paralympics.

New Delhi: Manish Narwal and Singhraj Adhana scripted history in the shooting event of the Tokyo Paralympics on Saturday. Manish Narwal has scored gold for Indian while Singhraj Adhana has bagged silver in the event. 

Both the Indian shooters have won medals in the P4 Mixed 50m Pistol SH1 event of the Tokyo Paralympics.

Manish scored a total of 218.2 in the final, creating a Paralympic record in the process of winning the gold medal while Singhraj Adhana just fell short, scoring 216.7 in the final.

Earlier, the two Indian shooters impressed everyone in the qualification round to reach the final. While Manish amassed 533-7x points, Singhraj scored 536-4x points after the end of six series.

Singhraj finished at the fourth position while Manish occupied the seventh spot after the end of the qualification round. Another Indian shooter, Akash failed to book the final berth as he ended with 507-3x points.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed Manish Narwal for bagging gold for India and said, "Glory from the Tokyo Paralympics continues. Great accomplishment by the young and stupendously talented Manish Narwal. His winning the Gold Medal is a special moment for Indian sports. Congratulations to him. Best wishes for the coming times."

PM Modi also congratulated Adhana for his sliver medal and said, "The outstanding Singhraj Adhana does it again! He wins yet another medal, this time in the Mixed 50m Pistol SH1 event. India rejoices due to his feat. Congrats to him. Wishing him the very best for the future endeavours."

India's medal tally now stands at 15 at these Paralympics. It has now won three golds, seven silvers, and five bronze medals. This is India's best tally at a single edition of the Para Games. It had won four medals at Rio 2016 and four at the 1984 Paralympics.
