The soccer fans in football crazy Mumbai were in for something special and stood to gain tremendously on 17th Feb at Garware Club House, Wankhede Stadium, as the mega city along the Arabian Sea witnessed the first-of-its-kind workshop by Oliver Kahn Academy, Germany, for Goalkeeper’s Coaches Program, Train N’ Fight Challenge for kids above 8 years of age organized by ICL Education Society. ICL is an institution set up in 1942 by a group of spirited and dynamic youngsters hailing from different corners of India to promote sports and culture. In the sports arena, especially football, ICL carved out a niche for itself by becoming the first non-Calcutta team to win the prestigious IFA shield in 1953. The aim is to identify the young talents in the football arena and nurture and mentor them so that they are transformed into international players. Apart from that, continuous engagement with sports would instill a competitive spirit in the young kids so as to make them resilient and subsequently responsible citizens of India having their footprint across the globe. "This is my first visit to India and I am extremely proud to be associated a great institution like ICL Education Society and its visionary leaders.
