IPL 2020, MI vs KXIP: Chris Gayle Stars As Kings XI Punjab Clinches The Double Super Over Thriller Vs Mumbai Indians At Dubai

Mumbai vs Punjab, IPL 2020 match today in UAE: Chasing a 12-run target in the second super over, KXIP's Chris Gayle and Mayank Agarwal powered their team to a thrilling win.

A sensational all-round performance from Kings XI Punjab, first in the regulation game and then in the Super Overs, powered them to a remarkable win over Mumbai Indians at Dubai on Sunday. Chasing a 12-run target in the second super over, KXIP's Chris Gayle smashed a six off the first ball and Mayank Agarwal later hit the winning our to get the job done and power KXIP to a thrilling win. It was for the first time in the history of IPL that 2 games finished as a tie. Also, it was an amazing day for cricket loving fans as they got to witness three Super Overs in a day, two of them in a single match.

After the scores were tied in the regulation game, KL Rahul and Nicholas Pooran came out for the Super Over for KXIP and for MI, Jasprit Bumrah bowled the super over. Pooran failed to deliver with the bat and got out without scoring any run. This was Pooran's second golden duck in Super Overs in IPL 2020. KL Rahul departed off the last ball and with this Mumbai were given a 6-run target for the win.

For Mumbai, Rohit and Quinton de Kock came out to chase the target. The equation came down to two runs required off the last ball. Mohammad Shami bowled some fiery yorkers to successfully defend six runs and the super over ended in a tie, forcing another super over.

As per rules, Mumbai Indians would bat first in the second Super Over and the six players who participated in the first Super Over could not play the next Super Over.

For Mumbai, Pollard and Hardik came out to bat. Hardik Pandya sacrificed his wicket to get run-out at non-striker's end to get Pollard on strike. who smashed the ball hard with full force for a six but a stunning fielding effort from Mayank Agarwal denied the big man a maximum and restricted MI for 11 on board. For Punjab, Chris Gayle and Mayank Agarwal got the job done with some fiery strokes and attain a super win for their team.

Earlier, Kings XI Punjab skipper KL Rahul's blistering 77-run knock and explosive batting in the death overs from Chris Jordan and Deepak Hooda helped Punjab tie the score against Mumbai Indians and force a super over on Sunday at Dubai.

After the early departure of in-form opener Chris Gayle for 24, young sensational batsman Nicholas Pooran staged a fightback with his skipper KL Rahul as the duo rose the run-scoring tempo by hitting some big shots with some consistency to put the pressure back on Rohit Sharma and Co.

The MI skipper brought his best wicket-taking bowler Jasprit Bumrah  into the attack to put a halt on the run-flow and the speedster did exactly what he is known for. Bumrah cleaned up Pooran for 24 shortly after Chris Gayle's exit. Glenn Maxwell was the new man in as he joined KL Rahul in the run-chase. After Maxwell departed for zero, Jasprit Bumrah bowled an unplayable yorker to clean up KL Rahul for 77 and pull back Mumbai back into the game.

Trent Boult gave just eight runs in the last over to force their match against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) to a Super Over. KXIP ended their innings on 176/6, which was exactly the score that MI managed.
