Dhoni's Magic Ends CSK's Losing Streak With Five-Wicket Win Over LSG

Skipper Rishabh Pant marked a strong return to form with a composed knock of 63 runs off 49 balls, anchoring the LSG innings.

A composed knock from skipper MS Dhoni (11-balls 26), backed by fiery innings from his partner Shivam Dube (37-ball 43), guided Chennai Super Kings to a much-needed five-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Stadium on Monday, April 14, putting an end to CSK's five-match losing streak.

Chasing a target of 167, Chennai Super Kings got off to a flying start. Debutant Sheikh Rashid impressed with a quick 27 off 19 balls, while Rachin Ravindra added a brisk 37 from 22 deliveries. The duo stitched together a solid 52-run opening stand, laying a strong foundation for the run chase.

Following the solid start, MS Dhoni provided the finishing touch with 26 off just 11, while Dube found his rhythm in the final overs. Their late surge ensured Chennai Super Kings crossed the finish line comfortably, giving their fans a much-needed reason to cheer.

Batting first after losing the toss, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) posted a total of 166 for 7 in their 20 overs against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Skipper Rishabh Pant marked a strong return to form with a composed knock of 63 runs off 49 balls, anchoring the LSG innings. Opener Mitchell Marsh also made a valuable contribution, scoring 30 runs from 25 balls.

Aiden Markram managed just 6, while Ayush Badoni added 22 before being dismissed. Abdul Samad scored 20 before being run out by a sharp piece of work from MS Dhoni. Shardul Thakur chipped in with 6 runs off 4 balls before departing late in the innings.

Chennai's Bowlers Step Up

CSK bowlers showed great control throughout the innings, keeping the pressure on the LSG batters. Ravindra Jadeja and Matheesha Pathirana both claimed two wickets each, while Khaleel Ahmed and Abdul Kamboj took one apiece. Their disciplined bowling ensured that LSG couldn't break free despite a good platform.

Chennai Super Kings, before tonight's clash against LSG, played six matches in IPL 2025 but attained only one win to show for it - their season opener. Since then, they were on a five-match losing streak. On the other hand, Lucknow Super Giants, under Rishabh Pant’s leadership, entered this match riding a wave of confidence with three consecutive wins.
