IPL 2023: We Won By Running Like Hell- Sikandar Raza After PBKS's Last-Ball Win vs CSK
Sikandar Raza finished unbeaten on 13 off 7 balls, scoring 3 runs off the final ball to help PBKS to a win over CSK.
Punjab Kings star Sikandar Raza played a crucial role in the team's last-ball win over Chennai Super Kings in a thrilling fixture at the MA Chidrambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday. Notably, the match went down to the wire and the in the end PBKS needed 3 to win off the last ball with four wickets in hand and Raza on strike.
However, Raza kept his cool to finish unbeaten on 13 off 7 balls, running three tuns off the last ball to help Punjab bag their fifth win of the season. The Zimbabwe star said that winning should be more important than individual performances which has been the culture in his national team.
"Everytime you win a match for your team it's a good feeling. Coming from the Zimbabwe culture, we put more emphasis on winning rather than individual performances," Raza said after the match.
"I was just looking at a lot of arms being raised in the dressing room. No idea. Maybe it was about retiring one of the guys. I don't know. We said we were one boundary away from run a ball (in the final over), and if we can't get that, we'll run well,” he added.
"We won by running like hell. I think that over Livingstone changed the game for us and we could never look back. Jitesh did his bit. I also did my bit and targeted the bigger boundary. Tried to hit 4 and 6 but was not succeeding at all," the 37-year-old said.
The win means PBKS are at the fifth place on the points table with 10 points. RR, LSG and CSK also have 10 points but PBKS' net run rate is the worse out of the these teams. Gujarat Titans with 12 points continue to be at the top of the league table.
PBKS will take on MI next at the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Stadium in Mohali on May 3.
