Table toppers Rajasthan Royals (RR) will eye a hat-trick of victories in the thirteenth edition of the Indian Premier League when they lock horns with two-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Dubai International Cricket stadium in Dubai later on Wednesday evening.
The RR vs KKR game which will be the twelfth game of the ongoing IPL season in UAE is scheduled for a 7:30 pm (IST) start with the toss to be held at 7:00 pm (IST).
While Rajasthan Royals come into the game high on confidence after defeating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in their previous two matches, KKR have had a mixed bag of sorts, coming back strongly to win against against Sunrisers Hyderabad after been trounced by Mumbai Indians in their season opener.
Rajasthan Royals batsmen are having a party time in the UAE as Sanju Samson, Steve Smith and Co. lit up the tournament with their belligerent power hitting to spearhead resounding wins in both their games from the jaws of defeat.
Despite a stupendous batting performance in the tournament so far, there would be concerns around the form of Robin Uttappa. RR would be more than delighted with the batting efforts of power hitter Rahul Tewatia who smoked a game changing half ton to close out a record breaking 224-run chase against Punjab.
While the seam bowling fortunes for Rajasthan Royals would largely rest on the shoulders of Jofra Archer and Jaydev Unadkat, seamer Ankit Rajpoot might be replaced by leg spinner Shreyas Gopal.
Opener Sunil Narine who hasn't quite delivered those quickfire starts with the bat will once again open the innings with Shubhman Gill, who looks in fine touch with the bat after 62-ball 70 against SRH.
Skipper Dinesh Karthik, Eoin Morgan and Andre Russell are expected to provide the fireworks in the middle and towards the end of the innings.
Australian seamer Pat Cummins fared pretty well against SRH after having a nightmarish outing against Mumbai. Much to the delight of KKR, the support cast from Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti was also pretty good.
Sunil Narine and Kuldeep Yadav would be the spin twins for KKR on a spin friendly track at Dubai.Meanwhile, mystery spinner Varun Chakravarty might get another game for the Knight Riders.
