Here's Why AB de Villiers Has Decided Not To Play For Brisbane Heat In BBL 2020

The lack of de Villiers in the team will be a major negative for Brisbane Heat in the tournament. The 360 degree batsman has been in great form in IPL 2020. This year, De Villiers has scored 324 runs in 11 matches so far with an average of 54, for his team Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Former South African batsman AB de Villiers has withdrawn his name from the upcoming season of the Big Bash League (BBL-10). The tournament will begin in December this year. The legendary batsman is soon going to be the father for the third time and that is why he has decided not to play in the popular T20 tournament. De Villiers plays for the Brisbane Heat in the BBL.

De Villiers is currently in Dubai and is playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League. In the post shared by the franchise, he said, 'The previous season for the Heat was great and I am very excited to play for the club in the future. Last season, the team did not get the results as expected. I think there is still some work to be done."

Here's What Ab De Villiers has to say on his decision to skip BBL 2020!

De Villiers further said that due to the situation arising due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and the uncertainty associated with travel, he has decided not to play this season. Head coach of the team Darren Lehman said that the team management has been in regular contact with De Villiers since last season. Initially, everything seemed right, but there have been some things that have changed everyone's plans.

Lehman further said that apart from Coronavirus and issues related to international travel, another challenge is that De Villiers and his wife Daniel are awaiting a third child. The Brisbane Heat retained the services of Afghan off-spinner Mujib ur Rehman for this year's tournament. The tournament starts on December 3.
