As soon as the train reached the platform, the gates of many coaches were closed. Seeing the crowd outside the train, no one inside the train was daring to open the gate. Meanwhile, people from outside kept shouting to open the gate. Many passengers also tried to break the door glass, while some were seen somehow boarding the train by throwing trolley bags on the heads of other passengers.

The situation worsened when after the door opened as the passengers jostled for space. The Godda-New Delhi Humsafar train has a stoppage of only two minutes at Nawada station but in view of the crowd, the train moved forward with a delay of about 12 minutes.
