Indian Athlete Wanted In Drug Case Since 2023 Finally Arrested
Amit remained out of the authorities’ reach for almost three years despite efforts to locate him. During the investigation, police received information suggesting that he was staying in Delhi.

Former national-level wrestler Amit has been arrested by police nearly three years after he allegedly went into hiding in connection with a drug case registered in Ranchi. Authorities said he had been wanted since 2023 and had managed to evade arrest throughout the investigation.
Won National-Level Wrestling Medal in 2013
A resident of Rohtak, Haryana, Amit has a background in competitive wrestling. He won a bronze medal at the 2013 National Wrestling Championship before later becoming linked to a narcotics investigation.
The case was registered in April 2023 at Dhurwa police station in Ranchi under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Police had reportedly recovered around 500 grams of a banned narcotic substance during the investigation and subsequently received information allegedly connecting Amit to the case.
Police Traced Him to Delhi
Amit remained out of the authorities’ reach for almost three years despite efforts to locate him. During the investigation, police received information suggesting that he was staying in Delhi.
Ranchi Police then coordinated with their Delhi counterparts to track him down. A joint operation was carried out near Madhuban Chowk in Rohini on August 18, 2026, resulting in Amit’s arrest.
After being detained, he was presented before a local court and was subsequently taken to Ranchi on transit remand.
Probe Into Alleged Drug Network Underway
Investigators are now examining Amit’s alleged involvement and attempting to uncover the wider network connected to the case. Police suspect that the group may have been involved in transporting narcotics from Jharkhand to Delhi.
Authorities are also working to identify other individuals allegedly connected to the operation and establish how the suspected supply chain functioned.
Amit’s arrest could provide investigators with important leads in a case that has remained under investigation for nearly three years. However, the allegations against him will ultimately be determined through the judicial process.
