'Best News About Last Season Is That It’s Over': Jurgen Klopp Eyes An Improved Run For Liverpool In 2023-24 Campaign

Jurgen Klopp is looking forward to a fresh start for Liverpool in the 2023-24 season.

Liverpool FC manager Jurgen Klopp has ackowledged that even though the past season wasn't the best one for the Reds, they now need to focus on what lies ahead of them. He underlined the value of experiences gained throughout the last season that could help them in their approach in the times to come. The German manager is looking forward to a fresh start in this season even though they have started their Premier League campaign with a 1-1 draw against Chelsea.

"Of course, we know that the last season we played was not the best we played. The best news about last season is that it’s over. So we learned a lot—some we can use, some we will see if we can use—so we are completely in this season. What the last season, or in general, what our younger history means for the next season, I don’t know 100%; it’s not too important, I think. We are here together. Everybody looks sharp, looks ready, looks ready to respond if you want—show reaction if you want," Klopp told Star Sports.

"But that doesn’t last too long; we can’t use that the whole year. We need to create something that we can really buy into, and something positive, so that we really start something new this year. There are so many changes in the team, around the team, and so we have to make it happen again, and that is exactly what we plan for. So yeah, it’s alright, and we are playing in the Premier League, which is still the strongest league in the world, and that doesn’t change," he added.

"Other teams don’t sleep or rest on the trophies they have won, or whatever preseason they had last year. They will go and go again—you can see it in the transfer market, you can see it everywhere, you can watch them play, they look really good, and other teams will show up, and you never know. But we are good as well, and that’s the only thing I’m reading—what I’m really thinking about," he said.

Each of the 20 Premier League teams have played a game each and the Reds find themselves at the 12th place following the draw against the Blues. Luis Diaz' goal did put Liverpool in front but Axel Disasi managed to find the equaliser, forcing the teams to settle for a point each.
