Yashasvi Jaiswal Enters Top 10 In ICC Rankings For Test Batters Amid Dream Series Vs England

Dubai: India's emerging talent, Yashasvi Jaiswal, has achieved a significant milestone, breaking into the top 10 of the ICC rankings for Test batters. This ascent comes on the back of his extraordinary performances during the ongoing Test series against England, where he has etched his name in Indian cricket history.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, the 22-year-old opener, marked his Test debut in 2023 and has rapidly climbed the ICC rankings. His stellar form against England has propelled him two places up, securing the 10th position with an impressive 727 rating points. Jaiswal's consistency with the bat has already made him the lone left-handed Indian batter to cross the 600-run mark in a Test series, joining the exclusive company of Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Sardesai, Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli.

In the ongoing series, Jaiswal has amassed a remarkable 655 runs in four Tests at an outstanding average of 93.57. This includes two centuries, both converted into double hundreds, and two half-centuries. His stellar performances hint at a potential challenge to the legendary Sunil Gavaskar's record of the highest runs (774) by an Indian batter in a Test series.

Simultaneously, Rohit Sharma's brilliant knock of 131 in the third Test against England in Rajkot has propelled him two positions up to the 11th spot. Despite missing the series, Virat Kohli also made a positive move, securing the eighth position.

In the top three Test batters, Joe Root has replaced Steve Smith at the second spot, showcasing his prowess with a quality century in the fourth Test in Ranchi. On the other hand, Marnus Labuschagne's dip in form saw him slide five positions after facing twin failures in the Wellington Test against New Zealand.

Among the bowlers, Ravindra Jadeja slipped one spot to seventh, while Australia's Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon advanced to the fourth and sixth positions, respectively. This shift follows Australia's commanding victory over New Zealand in the recent Test match, winning by 172 runs.
