While the Indians are rocking the Boxing Day Test in Australia, ace New Zealand speedster Trent Boult ripped the Sri Lankan batting apart with his record 5-wicket haul on Thursday morning. His phenomenal burst of six wickets for four in 15 deliveries saw the Kiwi hosts dismissing Sri Lanka for 104 on the second day of the second day at Christchurch.

Sri Lanka resumed the play at 88 for four on the second day with Angelo Mathews on unbeaten 27. The visitors calmly moved to 94 before Boult unleashed the carnage in the 37^th over, having Roshen Silva caught at third slip for 21.

In his next over, which turned out to be a three-wicket maiden, Boult dismissed Niroshan Dickwella on 4 and sent back Dilruwan Perera and Suranga Lakmal for a duck.

The last two Lankan wickets fell in the 41^st over with Dushmantha Chameera surviving the hat-trick only to be trapped in front on the second delivery he faced. Boult hit the last nail in the coffin, removing Lahiru kumara for a duck and completed his 6-for.

Mathews, who defied New Zealand for so long in the drawn first test with innings of 83 and an unbeaten 120, was left on 33 when he ran out of partners.

Boult, who sent down 10 overs without reward on day one, finished with a career-best six for 30 off 15 overs, eclipsing his previous best of six for 32 against England earlier this year.

With this furious bowling show, Boult has bettered a 116-year-old record which was set by Aussie all-rounder Monty Noble against England. Back in 1902, Noble scalped 5 wickets in an interval of 12 balls, but the Kiwi speedster left him behind on Thursday by picking up 5 wickets in just 11 balls to set a new World Record.
