'Warhorse' Dhoni scores a heroic ton against Bangladesh at Cardiff
Veteran Dhoni played like the younger version of himself- one that use to keep long hairs- to give a befitting reply to his critics by scoring a heroic 100 in just 72 balls and power India to a formidable 359/7 against Bangladesh.
Veteran MS Dhoni (113 off 78) played like the younger version of himself- one that use to keep long hairs- to give a befitting reply to his critics by scoring a heroic 100 in just 72 balls and power India to a formidable 359/7 against Bangladesh. However, Dhoni was not the lone warrior as batsman KL Rahul blasted his way to a magnificent hundred to impress the team management and ensure that he bbats again on the highly debated ‘number four’ batting slot in India’s CWC 2019 first battle against South Africa on June 5.
The last time MS Dhoni scored a century - 129 (107b, 10f, 6s) - was for Jharkhand against Chattisgarh at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on 26 Feb 2017 in the 50 over Vijay Hazare Trophy.
The overcast conditions got the better of the Indian top-order yet again. However, Indians finished off well, riding on a brilliant century by K.L. Rahul and a dominant ton by old warhorse M.S. Dhoni.
Skipper Virat Kohli, who looked content on the balcony after lower-orders good show, added a quickfire 46-ball 47.
Dhoni's took the attack to the Bangladesh spinners to help Rahul ease-off the pressure. In fact, it almost looked like the Dhoni of old as he used the depth of the crease to perfection against the Bangaldesh spinners.
But then, these warm-up matches are to fine-tune the areas that need attention. And going by the form of the Indian batsmen in the top half, there is plenty to worry for skipper Kohli and coach Ravi Shastri.
