Top BCCI Official K V Rao Sacked Ahead Of Annual General Meeting

KV Rao, has put in his papers ahead of the board's 89th Annual General Body meeting which is underway.

Ahead of the 89th Annual General Body meeting, BCCI official KV Rao,  who looked after domestic cricket, has put in his papers,news agency ANI reports. The report further adds that he was 'apparently asked to leave'. Rao did not cite any reason about why he has been asked to leave but he confirmed to the agency sharing the letter he wrote to the association. Also Read|BCCI AGM: New Selectors, IPL Team Expansion To Be Finalised; Discussion On World Cup 2021 Venues The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is being held in Ahmedabad, Gujarat today where the plethora of issues including the announcement of three new selectors are being addressed. The AGM is being attended by BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, IPL Chairman Rajeev Shukla, President of Hyderabad Cricket Association Mohammad Azharuddin, and other BCCI officials. In BCCI's AGM meeting, positions for three new selectors will be filled today. As per sources confirming ABP, the interviews for the selectors are already underway. It is understood that Ajit Agarkar, Maninder Singh and SS Das are the frontrunners for the coveted post. Rao, 55, was a manager with the BCCI and had stints at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) as well. Rao reported to BCCI's general manager of cricket operations, Saba Karim, who incidentally is also on his way out after resigning from the post in July this year. With Both Karim and Rao soon to be out of the BCCI system, it will come as a big blow for the board as both they were in-charge of domestic cricket in India, which is yet to resume since the Covid-19 pandemic.

In a mail sent to state associations, accessed by ANI, Rao wrote: "This mail is to inform you all that BCCI has decided to terminate my employment on 22nd Dec 2020, the best day of my life as this termination will provide me ample opportunities to further my professional skills elsewhere." He also thanked the BCCI state associations for helping in the organisation of domestic games, including the 2018-19 season wherein more than 2000 games were played. He further wrote how he had always tried to be honest to the job handed to him. "I tried to be very honest with my work and feel proud that I could contribute, whatever little way, in managing the assignments that were given to me by the BCCI, which includes two ICC World Cups hosted by India in 2013 (Women's World Cup) and 2016 (ICC T20 World Cup Men and Women) as Tournament Operations Manager.
