SA vs AFG Head-To-Head Record Ahead Of T20 World Cup Semifinal: South Africa and Afghanistan will face off in the first semifinal of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad on June 27 (Thursday). While the Proteas topped their Group 2 and are one of the two teams that are undefeated in the competition with the other being India, the story of the competition has been Afghanistan.

The Afghans beat New Zealand, Australia and Bangladesh in a span of 18 days to earn the right to be the semis. While this will be the first time they play the semifinals, they will be up against a side that is infamous for choking, on most occasions, at the knockout stage of the competition. It is perhaps for this reason that the Proteas have never been able to play World Cup final despite going into World Cups with some of the most enviable squads.
