Inzamam-Ul-Haq, Former Pakistan Captain, Accuses Arshdeep Singh, Team India Of Ball-Tampering In IND vs AUS T20 World Cup Clash

Inzamam-Ul-Haq hinted that Arshdeep Singh and Team India might have tampered with the ball to get reverse swing during the IND vs AUS T20 World Cup 2024 clash.

Inzamam-ul-Haq, the former Pakistan captain, has ignited yet another controversy through a massive allegation that he made while expressing his views on the India vs Australia ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 Super Eights clash. Inzamam has alleged India of ball-tampering in the match which India went on to win by 24 runs in St Lucia to seal a place for themselves in the semifinals.

Inzamam, who was part of the Pakistan team that won the 1992 ODI World Cup, has alleged that India fast bowler Arshdeep Singh was getting unusual amount of reverse swing in his second spell, hinting that he had tampered with the ball. While reverse swing typically happens with the old ball, Inzamam questioned how Team India managed to extract it during a T20 game in which the ball remains relatively new.

"When Arshdeep Singh was bowling the 15th over (16th), he was getting reverse swing. With a (relatively) new ball, is it too early to get reverse swing? Was the ball ready for reverse swing by the 12th or 13th over? Because when he came to bowl, the ball started reversing. Umpires ko aankhein khuli rakhni chahiye (the umpires should keep their eyes open)," Inzamam said while talking on a Pakistani TV channel.

India To Meet England In T20 World Cup 2024

While India topped their group in the Super Eights stage with three wins from three matches, that means they will be up against England in the second semifinal of the tournament. Rohit Sharma & Co. had scored 205/5 batting first, Australia were restricted to 181/7 in the run-chase as India went on to win their last Super eight clash by 24 runs. They would look to emulate a similar performance against the Three Lions who had beaten India by 10 wickets in the T20 World Cup 2022 semifinal at the Adelaide Oval.
