Duleep Trophy 2024: India C captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was retired hurt only two balls into the second round Duleep Trophy fixture against India B.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, the India C captain was retired hurt only two balls into the game against India B in the second round Duleep Trophy fixture at the Rayalseem Cricket Ground on Thursday (September 12).

Gaikwad won the toss and elected to bowl against India B. The right-handed batter got off the mark with a boundary but was retired hurt next ball. The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star seemingly twisted his ankles while taking a single and was forced to return in the first over itself.

Even though Gaikwad returned to the pavilion, the seriousness of his injury is not yet known. Gaikwad's early return to the pavilion forced Rajat Patidar to replace him in the middle. The Madhya Pradesh batter walked in at number 3 to join Sai Sudharsan.

As far as the Duleep Trophy First Round Results are concerned, Gaikwad-led India C beat Shreyas Iyer's India D by four wickets in the opening round which took them to six points.

India vs Bangladesh 1st Test Set To Commence On September 19

Meanwhile, India are gearing up to host the 1st Test againsgt Bangladesh set to commence on September 19 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The second Test of the two-match series will be held at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. 

The Test matches will be followed by a three-match T20I series with matches scheduled in Gwalior, Delhi and Hyderabad respectively. Ruturaj Gaikwad is not part of India squad for the first Test match against Bangladesh.
