Epigamia Co-Founder, Rohan Mirchandani, Passes Away From Cardiac Arrest: Report

The news of his passing was confirmed by an official statement from Drums Food International, the parent company of Epigamia which is famous for its Greek yogurt products in India

Rohan Mirchandani, co-founder of the Greek yogurt brand, Epigamia, passed away on December 21, 2024. The businessman died from a cardiac arrest.

The news of his passing was confirmed by an official statement from Drums Food International, reported Business Today. The entity is the parent company of Epigamia which is famous for its Greek yogurt products in India.

Mirchandani established Drums Food International in 2013. He was a graduate of NYU Stern and The Wharton School. Under his leadership, he evolved the company from Hoki Poki ice cream to Epigamia, which became a household name in yogurt and related dairy products in the country, the report noted.

The brand today operates more than 20,000 retail touchpoints spread across 30 cities in the country. Further, the company has been looking into expanding its operations in the Middle East by 2025-26.

The senior leadership of Epigamia, led by COO and founding member, Ankur Goel, and co-founder and director, Uday Thakker, will remain at the helm of the firm. The company further revealed that they will get complete support from the board of directors including Mirchandani’s family and crucial investors such as DSG Consumer Partners and Verlinvest.

Issuing a joint statement, Goel and Thakker said, “Rohan was our mentor, friend, and leader. We remain steadfast in our determination to carry forward his dream with strength and vigour,” the report stated.

The company’s board also expressed appreciation for Mirchandani, calling him a ‘visionary leader’ whose commitment and passion left a lasting impression. “We will work closely with the leadership to take Rohan’s legacy to greater heights,” the statement noted.

Mirchandani was known for his innovation. He tried to focus on quick commerce and planned to expand Epigamia’s revenue to Rs 250 crore in the 2024-25 fiscal year.
