As India were already assured of a place in the final against Sri Lanka, they decided to test their bench strength in their final Super Four fixture against Bangladesh. They won the toss and elected to bowl first and even managed to reduce the Bangla Tigers to 59/4 but led by half-centuries from Shakib Al Hasan (80 off 85 balls) and Towhid Hridoy (54 off 81 balls), they eventually managed to post 265/8 which eventually proved to be a match-winning secure.
In India's run-chase, Shubman Gill scored 121 off 133 deliveries while Axar Patel's 42 off 34 balls brought India close but in the end it was not enough on the day as Rohit Sharma & Co. tasted their first defeat of the continental tournament. After his heroics with the bat, captain Shakin returned to end with figures of 1 for 43 with the ball. He was adjudged the Player of the Match. Mustafizur Rahman also returned with figures of 3 for 50. Debutant Tanzim Hasan Shakib also returned with figures of 2 for 32 with Mehidy Hasan (1/29) being the other wicket taker.
For India, Shardul Thakur picked 3 wickets although he conceded 65 runs. Mohammed Shami also picked 2 wickets for 32 runs with Prasidh Krishna, Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja picking up a wicket each.
