Rishabh Pant Birthday: Team India's wicketkeeper-batter turns 27 on Friday (October 4).
Rishabh Pant, Team India's preferred wicketkeeper-batter across formats at the moment, was born on this day (October 4) in 1997. Rishabh started playing cricket when he was 12. He came to New Delhi with his mother and got admission in a cricket academy in the national capital. Notably, when Pant first came to India, he spent the night sleeping in a Gurudwara.
After toiling through the early years in cricket, Pant finally made his first-class debut in Ranji Trophy. In the very next month after that in the 2015-16 season of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he debuted in List A cricket. In one particular innings of the 2016-17 Ranji Trophy, Pant scored 308 against Maharashtra. He became the third youngest batter to smash a triple century in a first-class fixture and soon became the talk of the town in India.

Pant was part of the India Under-19 team in 2016 and conincidentally, that day coincided with the stumper getting an Indian Premier League (IPL) contract with the Delhi Daredevils. The southpaw was purchased for Rs 1.9 crore by the franchise which has now come to be known as Delhi Capitals and one which he is currently leading in the IPL. Pant had a breakthrough IPL season in 2017 where he smashed 366 runs in 14 innings.
Rishabh Pant Debuted Against England
Pant first donned India colours in 2017. He made his debut in the third T20I against England. In the first match he remained not out on 5 off 3 balls. Pant's strongest suit has been Test cricket where he has already equalled MS Dhoni's record of Test tons and played a memorable role in India's famous win over Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane which came in a Test series winning cause.

Pant, who turns 27, recently slammed a Test hundred against Bangladesh, in his first Test since recovering from injuries sustained in near-fatal car crash in December 2022.
