Relief For Md Shami Ahead Of World Cup As Court Grants Cricketer Bail In Domestic Violence Case
Previously, the court asked Shami to appear before the court in order to take bail.
The Alipore court granted bail to Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami on a two thousand rupees bail bond on Tuesday. The Indian pacer physically appeared before Kolkata’s Alipore ACJM court and took bail. Shami’s elder brother Mohammed Hasib was also granted bail by the same court on Tuesday. On the basis of the FIR filed by his estranged wife Hasin Jahan at Jadavpur police station in 2018, a case was filed against Mohammad Shami and some of his family members and as a result, legal proceedings were initiated against Shami.
Previously, the court asked Shami to appear before the court in order to take bail. Shami’s estranged wife Hasin Jahan accused the Bengal-based player of domestic violence back in 2018 and also filed a case in a lower court. The police had also interrogated Shami and his elder brother in this matter and even issued an arrest warrant against the two. However, a lower court in Kolkata had stayed that warrant. Jahan then approached the Calcutta High Court challenging the lower court order. However, the high court too had upheld the lower court order.
Thereafter, she had moved the Supreme Court challenging the high court order, which recently re-directed the matter to the same lower court, directing it to come to a final decision after hearing all parties in the case. Accordingly, a fresh hearing in the matter began at the lower court, which finally granted the cricketer bail in the matter on Tuesday.
On the work front, Mohammed Shami is currently preparing for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia, starting September 22. The Board of Control for Cricket in India announced India's squad where Shami has been added to the side while senior players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been rested for the first two matches with KL Rahul being named the captain.
The first match will be taking place at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium (PCA) in Mohali and then the action will shift to Indore on Sunday (September 24). The final match of the series will be played in Rajkot on September 27.
