Ravichandran Ashwin Shares Post On Amelia Kerr's T20 World Cup Run Out Controversy, Deletes It Later

Ravichandran Ashwin usually does not shy away from sharing his opinion but deleted a post on the Amelia Kerr run out controversy from the IND vs NZ match.

Ravichandran Ashwin, the veteran India off spinner, highlighted an error in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup run-out controversy involving New Zealand's Amelia Kerr. Ashwin shared the same in a post on micro-blogging website X. However, for some reason the spinning all-rounder, who usually does not shy away from making an opinion, opted to delete the post.

India went on to lose the match against the White Ferns by 58 runs. This was their tournament opener at the Dubai International Stadium. The result means India's campaign is in a spot of bother in the Women's T20 World Cup who would be hoping to win the remaining matches and get through to the next round of the tournament.

The run out in question, meanwhile, happened in the 14th over of  the New Zealand innings. This was when Kerr pushed for a single and Harmanpreet Kaur collected the ball and ran towards the bowler's end. However, when she realised that the Kiwis were looking for a second run, she threw the ball to the wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh who dived to run Kerr out.

The New Zealand batter had even started walking back the pavilion but the umpire called her back and later deemed her not out. The on-field umpires termed it a "dead ball" and argued that the cap was handed back to the bowler and hence anything that happened after that wasn't "in play".

"The over was called before the start of the second run. Whose fault is this really? @prithinarayanan," Ashwin wrote in view of this incident but quickly deleted the post.

However, fans were quick to take a screenshot of his post which is circulating online.

Take a look at the screenshot of Ashwin's post:
