Rahul Dravid Lauds Himself For Using Urdu During IND vs IRE Pre-Match Presser: Rahul Dravid, Team India's head coach, left himself impressed during a pre-match press conference ahead of India's T20 World Cup 2024 opener against Ireland at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. After he rightly used an Urdu word during while interacting with the media ahead of the match, he burst out laughing after complementing himself, saying "Well done, Rahul."
Notably, while Dravid usually responds in English, this was one of those rare occasions when he tried to answer in Hindi and aptly used the Urdu word "nazarandaaz" meaning ignore or overlook in English. The journalist had asked Dravid if India will be complacent, taking on Ireland in their opening game, Dravid dismissed any such possibility.
"Iss format mein, ye format hi yehi hai ki aap kisiko nazarandaaz ya lightly nahi le sakte (This format itself is such that you just cannot overlook anyone or take anyone lightly)," he said.

Rahul Dravid Confirms He Won't Reapply As Team India Head Coach
Meanwhile, Dravid recently confirmed that he won't be reapplying as Team India's head coach. His stint as the head of coaching staff of the Indian Cricket team will end the T20 World Cup. Notably, Dravid's contract had originally ended with the ODI World Cup 2023 where India lost to Australia in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

However, while Dravid's decided to stay till the T20 World Cup with not much time for the same, Rohit Sharma, who led India brillianty in that competition, has also continued to be the captain across formats.
