Prithvi Shaw Ready To Make One-Day Cup Debut With Northamptonshire

Mumbai: India opener Prithvi Shaw, who is currently not in the scheme of things as far as a place in the national side is concerned, is headed to Northamptonshire for his maiden stint in the English county circuit. The 23-year-old is set to make his debut for the county side on Friday against Gloucestershire in Cheltenham in the One-Day Cup. Even though the youngster was set to feature in the four-day County Championship fixtures, he couldn't make it in time for those matches because of visa formalities.
"It's a great opportunity for me and I'm really thankful to Northamptonshire for giving me this chance to express myself here," Shaw was quoted as saying in a media release.
"It's going to be amazing I think and I'm really looking forward to it."

It didn't help Shaw's cause that he failed to perform in IPL 2023. In 8 matches in the season, the Delhi Capitals opener only managed 106 runs with a highest score of 54. The right-handed batter had echoed Ravichandran Ashwin's views that there no friends in the present day cricketing environment.
"As a person, I just like to be in my own zone. People say a lot of things about me. But those who know me, know how I am. I don't have friends, I don't like to make friends. This is what's happening with this generation. You can't share your thoughts with anyone else," Shaw told Cricbuzz.
"If you ask me personally, it's very scary. Darr lagta hai aajkal to share my thoughts. Agle din social media mein aa jaata hai(I'm scared to share my thoughts. Somehow all of it comes up on social media). I've got very less friends, only a couple of friends, and even with them I don't share everything, only a few things," he added.
