Groundsmen Burn Dung Cakes To Dry Pitch In Patna, Video Of Bizarre Incident During Ranji Trophy Match Goes Viral On Social Media —WATCH
A bizarre incident was captured on camera as groundsmen burnt dunk cakes to dry pitch in Patna during the Bihar vs Karnataka Ranji Trophy 2024-25 match.
Day 2 of the Ranji Trophy match between Bihar and Karanataka got delayed due to a wet outfield. Perhaps because of the lack of the modern-day cricketing equipments, the groundsmen at the Moin-ul-Haq Stadium in Patna were seen burning dunk cake to dry the pitch. The video of the same has gone viral on social media. While the sight of groundsmen using table fan to dry the pitch was seen as recently as the third Test between England and Pakistan, this incident from Patna has caught the attention of fans on social media.

Talking about the match, hosts Patna were bundled out by Karnataka for 143 runs. Sharman Nigrodh chipped in with 60 runs while Bipin Saurabh scored 31. Rest of the batting lineup could not chip in much with the bat with as many as seven batters getting out for single digit scores. The Mayank Agarwal-led side was exceptional with the ball in hand, with spinners Mohsin Khan and Shreyas Gopal sharing seven wickets between them.

In response, Karnataka declared their first innings at 287/7 while Bihar posted 212 in the second innings, setting Karnataka a target of 70 runs to win, a total which they reached in 10 overs. Karnataka captain Mayank Agarwal scored a hundred in the first innings, scoring 105 off 131. While Bihar's Sabikul Gani also posted 130 in the second innings to try and put up a fight, it wasn't enough for them to get points from the match. Shreyas was the most impressive bowler for Karnataka, scalping 4 wickets in each of the two innings.
