The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) invited India fast bowler Mohammed Shami for a feliciatation ceremony in Kolkata. Shami, who represents Bengal in domestic cricket, received a special award during the annual award ceremony of the state cricket association. However, in an embarassing moment for CAB, when the fast bowler did come up on the stage to collect the award, more than the handing over the award to Shami it was the spelling blunder on screen that caught everyone's attention.
Shami, who was bestowed the honour for his incredible performance in the ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023 at home where he finished as the tournament's leading wicket-taker with 24 scalps from 7 matches, graciously accepted the award. However, when he was collecting the award, the visual behind him mentioned his name as 'Shamit'.

Mohammed Shami Set To Return To Cricket Action Soon
Notably, Shami has been out of cricket action ever since the ODI World Cup last year. He sustained an injury and played with it through the tournament. He was then recommended a surgery and the seamer, having healed after the operation, is gradually returning to match fitness.
"Koshish jaldi hi kar raha hoon kyun ke main janta hoon kaafi time ho gaya hai team se bahar rehte hue (I am working hard to make a comeback soon because I know I have been out of action for quite some time). However, I want to ensure there is no discomfort when I return. I’ve got to work on my fitness so that there is no discomfort," the senior Indian speedster was quoted as saying by the BCCI.
