T20 World Cup 2026 qualified teams: India and Sri Lanka have been announced as the hosts for ICC T20 World Cup 2026 tournament. The eight teams that qualified for this year's T20 World Cup Super 8 stage will automatically qualify for T20 World Cup 2026 edition in India and Sri Lanka.

Interestingly, despite not qualifying for the Super 8s in T20 WC 2024, Sri Lanka secured their spot in T20 World Cup 2026 tournament as co-hosts of the ICC event.

As per the qualifying criteria for ICC T20 World Cup 2026, top 12 teams out of the current 20 participating teams in T20 WC 2024 will secure direct qualification for the next tournament.

Co-hosts India and Sri Lanka will be the first two teams in this list to receive automatic entry into T20 World Cup 2026 tournament, alongside all the teams who have qualified for Super 8 stage in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

India has already qualified for Super 8 from Group A in the current edition, fulfilling two qualification criteria.

Notably, India secures direct entry into T20 World Cup 2026 based on their qualification for T20 WC 2024 Super 8 stage, and not as a host nation.

Had India failed to qualify for T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 stage, they would have earned direct qualification for T20 World Cup 2026 as hosts, similar to Sri Lanka's current situation.

Now, apart from Sri Lanka, teams who have qualified for Super 8 stage of this year's T20 World Cup, including India, and the three highest-ranked teams on the ICC T20I rankings as of June 30, 2024, will earn direct entry for T20 World Cup 2026 tournament.

A total of 12 teams will earn direct entry into the T20 World Cup 2026. This includes the eight Super 8 teams from the T20 World Cup 2024: India, England, Bangladesh, West Indies, Australia, South Africa, USA, and Afghanistan. Additionally, Sri Lanka qualifies as co-host of the T20 WC 2026. The remaining three spots will be filled by the teams ranked highest on the ICC T20I rankings as of June 30, 2024.
