Kanpur Weather: Rain forced a delayed start and an early stumps on the opening day of the India vs Bangladesh 2nd Test at the Green Park Stadium.
Kanpur Weather: Only 35 overs of play was possible on the opening day of the India vs Bangladesh second Test match at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. While there was a delayed start because of overnight rain and a wet outfield, when play did resume there were only a session and a bit's play that happened before badlight stopped cricket action followed by a heavy spell of rain forcing early stumps on Day 1.
Despite little cricket on the opening day of the Test match, there were records already broken. India elected to field first for the first time in a home Test match since 2015 when Virat Kohli had taken the decision in a 2015 Test at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru against South Africa. The ongoing India vs Bangladesh Test also happened to just the second Test in one of the traditional Test centres of the country where a team had won the toss and fielded, with the first such incident happening in the India vs England Test in 1964.

Rain Likely To Play Spoilsport On Day 2 Of IND vs BAN Test
However, with rain in the air, all eyes are on the weather on Day 2 of the IND vs BAN 2nd Test. Weather forecast for Kanpur suggests "cloudy with a thunderstorm in parts of the area." Meanwhile, forecast on the portal called 'Weather' suggests strong possibility of rain after 09:00. The IND vs BAN 2nd Test had strong possibility of rain on the first three days. However, there could still be enough time for a result in the fixture, given how India managed to beat Bangladesh in Chennai in a match that lasted less than four days.

The India vs Bangladesh Test series will be followed by a T20I series. India are yet to announce their squad for the three-T20Is in a season which is otherwise mostly packed with Test matches.
