Bangladesh Supporter Alleges Assault By Fans At Green Park In Kanpur, Takes DRAMATIC U-Turn Later

Tiger Roby, a Bangladesh fan, initially alleged he was assaulted by Indian fans during the second IND vs BAN Test in Kanpur but later denied the claims, stating his pain was due to an illness.

Tiger Roby, a Bangladesh fan, was allegedly assaulted by Indian fans inside the stadium during the first day of the ongoing India vs Bangladesh 2nd Test at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur on September 27 (Friday). However, he has now made a u-turn on his earlier claims and denied the charges of assault and said he was in pain due to his illness.

A report by The Indian Express claimed Robi to have said that he was attacked by a group of around 15 people during the IND vs BAN Test in Kanpur.

“A section of the crowd has been abusing me since the morning. Once lunch was called I just started shouting the names of Najmul Shanto and Mominul Haque. Few of them started shoving me around, tried to tear my mascot (Tiger) and my flag, and when I resisted they started hitting me,” The Indian Express quoted Robi as saying.

Robi Makes A U-Turn On Assault Claims

However a new PTI report claims that Robi released a video message afterwards and denied the charges of assault and said that he was in pain owing to an illness.

"I was not feeling well. Police took me to the hospital, where I was given treatment. Now, I have recovered to great extent. My name is Robi. My father is not there. I have my mother. My district is Khulna," Robi said in the video as per PTI.

In another video, Abhishek Pandey, ACP of Kalyanpur, Kanpur, stated that Tiger Robi collapsed as he fell ill. He confirmed that police and medical staff quickly assisted him and he was taken to the hospital, where he is now recovering. Pandey emphasised that the speculation regarding an assault is completely unfounded, asserting that Robi was not attacked by any fans.

“He collapsed due to dehydration. Police and the medical staff rushed to help him immediately and was taken to the hospital. He is now feeling better. The speculation about the assault is completely wrong. He was not hit by any fan,” he said.
