Kamindu Mendis- Remember The Name. Sri Lankan Star Smashes 5th Ton In His 8th Test
Kamindu Mendis had earlier become the first cricketer in the world to score a half-century in all of his first 8 Test matches.
Kamindu Mendis scored his fifth Test hundred in his eighth Test match in the ongoing Sri Lanka vs New Zealand second Test in Galle on Friday (September 27). Mendis had already become the first cricketer in the world to score a half-century in all of his first 8 Test matches.
In what is only the 13th innings of his Test career, Mendis already has over 900 runs and is all set to be among the fastest to breach the 1000-run mark in Test cricket. The left-handed batter got to the landmark ton with a single through the square leg region, followed by a trademark chilled out celebration, something which fans have seen quite a few times already in his young career.

Sri Lanka Leading The Series 1-0
The hosts are 1-0 up in the two-match Test series, having beaten the Kiwis in the series opener by 63 runs. Mendis had also scored a ton in that match, scoring 114 off 173 deliveries in the series opener. However, it was left-arm spinner Prabath Jayasuriya who was the chief architect of Sri Lanka's victory.
Jayasuriya scalped 4/136 in the first innings before returning with figures of 5/68 in the second to finish with 9 wickts in the match and earn the Player Of The Match award. Jayasuriya spell however meant Rachin Ravindra's valiant 92 in the final innings of the Test match went in vain as the Blackcaps were bundled out for 211 to lose the Test despite taking a first-innings lead.
