Jofra Archer Returns: England Announce Playing XI For Lord's Test

All eyes will be on Jofra Archer, whose pace and bounce can be a game-changer on the Lord’s pitch.

England have officially named their playing XI for the third Test against India, starting July 10 at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground.

The biggest headline from the announcement is the return of star pacer Jofra Archer, who has been included in the starting lineup for the first time in the ongoing five-match series.

Archer’s comeback adds significant firepower to England’s bowling attack as they aim to bounce back after a heavy defeat at Edgbaston.

Blend of seniors and promising young talent

Led by Ben Stokes, England’s XI features a blend of experienced campaigners and promising young talent.

Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett retain their places at the top of the order, followed by the dependable middle-order trio of Ollie Pope, Joe Root, and in-form Harry Brook, who recently became the No. 1 ranked Test batsman in the world.

Jamie Smith, who made a solid impression in the previous Test, continues as the wicketkeeper. The inclusion of Chris Woakes, Brydon Carse, and Shoaib Bashir rounds out a well-balanced bowling unit, with Woakes bringing vital experience at home and Bashir offering a spin option.

However, all eyes will be on Jofra Archer, whose pace and bounce can be a game-changer on the Lord’s pitch. Archer’s fitness has been closely monitored over the past months, and his inclusion suggests that he is finally ready to perform at the highest level again.

The five-match series is currently tied at 1-1, making the Lord’s Test crucial for both teams. India had crushed England by 336 runs in the Edgbaston Test, and the hosts will be eager to hit back strongly at the “Home of Cricket.”

England's Playing XI for IND vs ENG 3rd Test at Lord’s: Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (C), Jamie Smith (WK), Chris Woakes, Brydon Carse, Jofra Archer, Shoaib Bashir.
