Chennai Super Kings' win came on the back of a whirlwind half ton by their promising young opener Ruturaj Gaikwad who stroked his way to a match-winning 53-ball 72 against Morgan-led Knight Riders on Thursday.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) secured a thrilling win over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Match 49 of the ongoing thirteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) played on Thursday (Oct 29) at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai. Chennai Super Kings' win came on the back of a whirlwind half ton by their promising young opener Ruturaj Gaikwad who stroked his way to a match-winning 53-ball 72 against Morgan-led Knight Riders on Thursday (Oct 29). Gaikwad seemed all gung ho about his stellar match winning knock and had an interesting admission to make about the secret behind his lofty hits against the KKR bowlers while collecting his Man of the Match award post the game. Coming out to collect the Player of the Match award for a second straight game and on being asked about what was the reason behind the power he generates through his strokes, Gaikwad in a humorous tone told the presenter that the he works hard at the gym regularly and has six pack abs too. "I do work hard in the gym and I have a six pack and all," he said. Gaikwad added that he had become mentally strong during the course of the tournament after successfully overcoming Covid-19 just before the commencement of the season in the UAE. The CSK youngster who took almost 20 days to recover and needed to be placed in self quarantine credited his skipper MS Dhoni's advice on facing any trouble with smile on face also helped him. I've backed myself because both innings I got out when the situations were a little tough. I knew if i get the opportunity to open and get my time, I would do well. So the confidence was there. Covid has made me tough. Our captain always says to face any situation with a smile. It was difficult but I tried to do it. It made me stay in the present." Ruturaj Gaikwad spearheaded a successful 173-run chase against KKR by notching up a quick fire half and laying down a solid platform for all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja to explode towards the end. Later, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja sealed the win for the 'Yellow Brigade' by hitting a couple of sixes in the last three overs of the game .
