New Delhi: Team India suffered a heavy blow as Virat Kohli walked off the field with a nasty shoulder injury on Day 1 of the third India-Australia Test Ranchi.

In the 40th over off the Australian innings, Handsocmb drove one passed mid on. Kohli went after the ball and dived at full length to stop it going over the boundary. He was successful to restrict the batsman to 3 runs but he ended up jamming his shoulder badly on the ground.

Kohli was in discomfort immediately after the incident and walked off the field with the physio.

Later on he was seen sitting with an ice-pack wrapped around his right shoulder in the dressing room.

Ajinkya Rahane was playing the role of stand-in captain.

There has been no official word on the extent of Kohli’s injury.
