The national chief of the BJP Minority Wing, Jamal Siddiqui, wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday, requesting to rename India Gate in Delhi as 'Bharat Mata Dwar'.
In the letter, he wrote, "Under your leadership, the feeling of patriotism and dedication towards Indian culture has grown in the hearts of 140 crore Indian brothers and sisters. The way in which the wounds inflicted by Mughal invaders and the plunderers, the British, have been healed and the scars of slavery washed away during your tenure has brought happiness across India."

Appreciating the PM's role in connecting India's culture by renaming the multiple sites, he added, "Sir, you have renamed the road named after the cruel Mughal Aurangzeb to APJ Kalam Road, removed the statue of King George V from India Gate and replaced it with the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, and connected India's culture by renaming Rajpath to Kartavya Path. Similarly, I humbly request that you kindly change the name of India Gate to Bharat Mata Dwar."
"Renaming India Gate to Bharat Mata Dwar would be a true tribute to the thousands of martyrs whose names are inscribed on the pillar. I humbly request you to consider my proposal and grant the change to Bharat Mata Dwar, " Siddiqui further added.
