India To Host England For 4 Tests, 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is In 2021: BCCI President Ganguly

Giving his views on the next edition of the Indian Premier League, Ganguly said: "We are trying to have the next IPL in India, it's a tournament for India, I always tell people that they need to be here to see what IPL means to India."

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly on Tuesday confirmed that India will play host to England for a full-fledged series comprising of 4 Tests, 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is early next year. England's white ball tour, which was originally slated to be held September-October 2020, was postponed to January 2021 on account of the Covid-19 virus. England's tour of India will be the first international cricket engagement to be played in India after the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus. "England is touring India for four Test matches, three ODIs, and five T20Is, it is easy to have bilateral as there are just two teams, we have to keep assessing the situation, a lot of people are talking about the second COVID wave, we have to be careful," Sourav Ganguly said during a virtual press conference organized by Livingguard AG. Giving his take on the resumption of international and domestic cricket in the country, Ganguly said he is keeping his fingers crossed. "Our domestic season will start very shortly. Indian to tour England in August 2021 A few days back, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) had announced the tentative schedule of the England cricket team's Summer season for 2021. ECB had officially confirmed that the Indian team will be touring England for a five-match Test series in the month of August and September in 2021. "When it gets to 8 teams, 9 teams, 10 teams, then it becomes a bit more difficult...we have to keep assessing the situation... a lot of them are talking about a second wave," the former India cricketer added further. Ganguly said that the alarming surge in in the number of positive Covid-19 cases in the metropolitan cities remains a concern. "I heard in Mumbai and Delhi, the numbers have gone up, so we have just got to be a bit careful and make sure everything is in order, so we will monitor it," he said. The Board President also spoke about India's high octane series with Australia, which gets underway from November 27 with the first ODI of the 3-match ODI series at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney. Hailed as arguably one of the greatest skippers of India, Ganguly said that the Indian Cricket Team is all set to lock horns with a highly competitive Australian team in their backyard.
