Background
India vs New Zealand 1st Test: Ravindra Jadeja and Shreyas Iyer, both scored fifties to take India's score to a respectable 258/4 at Stumps on Day 1. India was in a spot of bother after Kyle Jamieson picked three wickets as the home team's score lingered around the 145 mark.
India was 145/4 when Jadeja and Iyer put up a solid unbeaten partnership of 113 runs. It was a day of uneven bounce and some purchase off the wicket for bowlers. Although the dry surface of Kanpur favors the spinners, the Kiwi spinners weren't able to pick a single wicket, but there were clear signs of the ball turning.
Nonetheless, a. new day awaits for the Test cricket fans with a foggy morning from the Kanpur city of Uttar Pradesh, north of India. A location that receives cold weather and foggy mornings at this point of the year.

The dew will be a major factor and the wet nature of the surface might help the ball swing and seam a little early on. Jadeja and Iyer will have to be cautious of the new ball.
The first day's play had to be ended with six overs remaining due to bad light. It would be interesting to see if Day 2 also has a similar fate. India will look to score big as experts suggest that batting later in the match would be a tricky exercise, given the conditions.
