‘Heartbreaking’: Kevin Pietersen Slams England For Lack Of Practice As India Complete 3-0 Clean-Sweep

IND vs ENG: England suffered a 3-0 ODI series clean-sweep against India and Kevin Pietersen slammed the visitors for not practicing enough after T20Is loss.

IND vs ENG: England’s nightmare tour of India concluded with a crushing 142-run defeat in Ahmedabad on February 12 (Wednesday) as India sealed a 3-0 clean-sweep in the three-match ODI series. Prior to that, India had also clinched the T20I series by 4-1. England legend Kevin Pietersen slammed the team's approach, criticizing them for what he claimed was a lack of proper practice throughout the series.

India delivered a dominant performance in the third IND vs ENG ODI, led by batter Shubman Gill’s 102-ball 112 runs knock and fifties from Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer. India, batting first posted 356-10 in 50 overs. In response, England could only manage 214 runs, losing the match by 142 runs.

While on commentary during the match, former India head coach Ravi Shastri, revealed that England players participated in only one practice session across the entire series.

'I Am Absolutely Gobsmacked': Kevin Pietersen

After England’s 3-0 ODI series loss, Kevin Pietersen expressed his frustration on social media, stating he was “gobsmacked” that the team did not train after losing the first ODI and the T20I series. He claimed that only Joe Root had a net session post-Nagpur and criticised the lack of effort, saying no England player could honestly claim they gave their best, calling the situation “heartbreaking” for England fans.

“I’m sorry, but I am absolutely gobsmacked that England did not have ONE team practice session since losing the 1st ODI and losing the T20 series. How can this be? Seriously, how? I believe Joe Root was the only player to have a net this series, post Nagpur. There isn’t a single sportsman on this planet who can honestly say, that they’d improve without practicing whilst they’re getting beaten,” Pietersen said.

He continued, “There also cannot be one player in that England side that can sit on the plane leaving India and saying to themselves, they did everything they can to try help England win. And for that, I’m am actually incredibly sad this evening. Losing is fine if you’re giving your best to improve everyday and if England didn’t train during this series then they didn’t try. Heartbreaking for any England fan!”
