Watch: Pujara Hits Back! Michael Vaughan Might Think Twice Before Tweeting Again

Soon after joining the commentary panel, Pujara surprised everyone — especially Vaughan — by asking for his autograph.

Although Cheteshwar Pujara is not part of the playing XI in the India vs England Test series, he’s still making headlines — this time as a commentator.

During the Leeds Test, Pujara had a special moment when he handed debutant Sai Sudharsan his Test cap, a heartwarming gesture that earned admiration across the cricketing world. But what followed in the commentary studio created even more buzz, especially for former England captain Michael Vaughan.

The Moment That Left Vaughan Stunned

Soon after joining the commentary panel, Pujara surprised everyone — especially Vaughan — by asking for his autograph.

But it wasn’t just any ordinary item he wanted signed. Pujara presented a printout of Vaughan’s infamous 2020 tweet, in which he predicted a 0–4 whitewash for India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia.

As history would have it, India — against all odds — won that series 2–1, pulling off a historic win at the Gabba. Vaughan had clearly underestimated the resilience of the Indian team, and Pujara’s clever move was a light-hearted yet pointed reminder of that.

The scene in the studio was priceless. Vaughan signed the tweet, albeit with a sheepish grin, clearly caught off guard by Pujara’s witty gesture. One thing’s for sure — Vaughan may now think twice before making sweeping predictions about Team India.

India Off to a Solid Start in Leeds

Back on the field, India got off to a flying start in the Leeds Test. After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, openers KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal put together a strong partnership. They set record for highest opening stand by an Indian pair for opening wicket at Leeds.

At the time of writing, India were comfortably placed at 195/2, showcasing maturity and confidence at the top. Jasiwal remains unbeaten, nearing a ton, while captain Gill has completed his fifty.
