IND vs AFG 3rd T20I HIGHLIGHTS: Rohit's Record-Breaking Ton Steals The Show As India Beat Afghanistan In Second Super Over
IND vs AFG 3rd T20I HIGHLIGHTS: India beat Afghanistan in Bengaluru to clinch the three-match series 3-0.
IND vs AFG 3rd T20I HIGHLIGHTS: India beat Afghanistan in the third and the final T20I of the three-match series against Afghanistan at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru to clinch the series 3-0. While India won the toss and elected to bat first in order to present themselves a different challenge, it was a disastrous start for the hosts who were reduced to 22/4 in 4.3 overs with Virat Kohli and Sanju Samson departing for golden ducks.
However, India managed to post 212/4 from there on, thanks to a superb effort from captain Rohit Sharma, who hadn't scored a run in the series before this match. The experienced Indian opener remained unbeaten on 121* off 69 deliveries to power India to 212/4. Rohit's knock dwarfed Rinku Singh's effort on the day whose 69 off 39 and a hat-trick of sixes to finish the Indian innings was perhaps equally significant in the context of the game.
Rohit Sharma Brings His Best To Bengaluru
Rohit brought to his best to Bengaluru and after surviving an early period where the wicket seemed a bit tricky to bat on plus the Afghanistan pacers also seemed to have found the right length, the Indian skipper played a near-flawless knock studded with 11 fours and 8 sixes. He played all the shots that he is known for while also bringing some of his T20 special strokes like the reverse pull into the picture in India's final T20I before the T20 World Cup.
In the run chase, even though half-centuries from Rahmanullah Gurbaz (50 off 32) and Ibrahim Zadran (50 off 41) got Afghanistan a start, it was the unbeaten effort from Gulbadin Naib (55* off 23) that forced the match to a Super over. Washington Sundar was the pick of the bowlers for the hosts finishing with figures of 3 for 20 in his 3 overs. Avesh Khan and Kuldeep Yadav picked up a wicket each even though Avesh proved to be expensive, going for 55 off his 4 overs.
Double Super Over
The match went to a double super over. First Afghanistan set India a target of 17 to win but India too tied the first super over at 16 to force the game into a second super over where India only managed 11 but Afghanistan lost both their wickets at the score of 1 to emerged victorious. India trusted Ravi Bishnoi to bowl the second super over after giving Mukesh Kumar the first one.
