Australia Suffers Huge Blow As Hard-Hitting Batsman Ruled Out Of South Africa T20Is

The Australia cricket team travelled to South Africa to take part in three T20Is followed by a five-match ODI series against the Proteas. The first T20I is slated to take place in Durban on Wednesday but then just ahead of the series the Kangaroos suffered a huge blow as one of their finest all-rounders, Glenn Maxwell has been ruled out of the T20I series with an ankle injury. It was during Australia’s first training session when Maxwell injured himself in Durban.
The Kangaroo nation have added Matthew Wade as a replacement for the upcoming series against South Africa. Speaking on Maxwell’s injury, Australia selector Tony Dodemaide said that keeping in mind the three-match ODI series against India, followed by the 50-over World Cup, Maxwell was being pulled out. The 34-year-old would leave the squad following the T20I series against South Africa for the birth of his first child before coming back to the team for the ODI series against India.
"We are taking a precautionary approach, given Glenn was heading home next week in any case. We will monitor Glenn's recovery with a view to him being available for the three-match ODI series in India in advance of the World Cup," Dodemaide was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.
