Despite a successful debut as coach, Gambhir issued a warning to players about maintaining their fitness, emphasizing its importance for the upcoming season. India's tour of Sri Lanka will continue with a three-match ODI series, starting on Friday, August 2, in Colombo.

BCCI took to X (Twitter) to share a video featuring speeches from Gautam Gambhir and Hardik Pandya in the Indian dressing room. Both made special mentions of Suryakumar Yadav in their addresses to the players.

"Make sure you come back fit for the Bangladesh series. You can take a break, you deserve it. But more importantly keep your fitness levels & skills high for the series. You cannot come for the series thinking I can just turn up," Gambhir said while addressing the dressing room.

Hardik Pandya, who was overlooked for the T20I captaincy just before IND vs SL series, praised Suryakumar Yadav’s captaincy as brilliant. He commended Yadav for effectively using his bowlers and credited the spinner duo of Washington Sundar and Ravi Bishnoi for their all-round contributions.

Hardik Pandya began his address by praising the team, saying, "First of all, very wonderful. I think batting was a challenge due to the difficult conditions. After losing early wickets, the partnership between Shubman and Riyan was fantastic."

He continued, "We often discuss situational awareness, and what both of you did was crucial. It provided us with the platform to achieve a strong total."

Regarding Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya said, "As Gauti Bhai mentioned, Surya, the way you rotated the bowlers was very brilliant."
