SL Vs AUS: Reigning World Test champions and confirmed World Test Championship 2025 finalists - Australia, are set to travel to Sri Lanka for the two-match Test series. The squad for the tour has been announced, and George Bailey (one of the Chief selectors) has decided to introduced fresh faces in the red-ball set-up of Australia.

"Sri Lanka is a challenging and exciting place to tour given the different conditions players may be presented with. This squad provides several ways to structure the XI depending on what type of wickets we may encounter in each match. We are excited about the opportunity ahead for the squad members who are at the start of their Test careers to continue to grow their games in subcontinent conditions where we have a number of important tours in coming years," said George Bailey, as reported by ICC.

Australia thwarted India on all fronts in the recently-concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 series, as they won 3-1, and have now opted to hand rest to their key players, especially captain Pat Cummins, who was on fire against India.

In this fresh-looking squad, one name that will be the one to watch out for is Cooper Connolly, as the talented youngster is all-set to make his Test debut against Sri Lanka (if given a chance).

The Perth Scorchers all-rounder is enjoying a great run of form, where he has played crucial knocks for his side in the ongoing Big Bash League 2024-25.

Cooper Connolly has represented Australia at youth levels, and is well-remembered as the former captain of the Australia U19 squad.

Sri Lanka will be a good place for the Australian to start his career, as his handy spin can come in as a huge advantage against the hosts.
