BCCI Introduces Voluntary Disclosure Scheme To Tackle Age, Domicile Fraud In Domestic Cricket

This initiative, backed by NCA director Rahul Dravid, found favour with the current regime of president Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah, and introduced a 'amnesty' scheme for the board to maintain perfect records going forth and also stamp out corruption.

In a concerted effort to root out age fraud from domestic cricket, the BCCI has launched a voluntary disclosure scheme till September 15 for all registered players who have altered their age or submitted fake birth certificate for age group cricket. This initiative, backed by NCA director Rahul Dravid, found favour with the current regime of president Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah, and introduced a 'amnesty' scheme for the board to maintain perfect records going forth and also stamp out corruption. Under the scheme, players found out thereafter for age and domicile fraud will be banned for 2 years and will not eligible to play in any age group tournaments of the board or the state units. The board also said they zero tolerance towards age corruption and also listed out their 24x7 helplines numbers to report such cases. Meanwhile, the board also launched a tirade against fake domicile to ensure genuine state players do not suffer. The voluntary disclosure scheme does not apply to players with fake domicile and any senior men or women with fake domicile going forth will be banned for 2 years.
