Andre Russell hits biggest six on ODI return

Returning to ODI cricket after a gap of three years, West Indian all-rounder Andre Russell made his intentions clear by hitting Mustafizur Rahman for a 104 meter six – the biggest of the day.

Returning to ODI cricket after a gap of three years, West Indian all-rounder Andre Russell made his intentions clear by hitting Mustafizur Rahman for a 104 meter six – the biggest of the day.

Russell, who was out of the West Indian ODI team since November 2015, did not set the stage on fire but his six off Mustafizur was enough to suggest that the all-rounder is here to stay.

West Indies were more or less out of the contest when Russell walked into bat at No.8. In the 38th over, the big-hitting all-rounder launched into heave over mid-wicket that landed outside the stadium, prompting the umpires to call for new balls.

Russell backed that huge six with another booming straight hit that almost knocked the umpire off his feet. His blooming innings was, however, cut short by Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza, who foxed Russell with a well-disguised slower one for 13 off 12.

West Indies ended up on losing side as Bangladesh shrugged off the Test humiliation to go 1-o up with a 48-run win.
