A new era is about to begin for Pakistan cricket: Mickey Arthur

Karachi [Pakistan], September 26 (ANI): As his team gears up to play Sri Lanka in the first Test beginning from Thursday, Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur feels that a "new era" is about to begin for Pakistan cricket.

The two rivals will face each other for two Tests, five ODIs and three T20 Internationals.

The team will play their first test in the absence of Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan, at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi, as the legendary duo bid farewell to international cricket.

"A new era is about to begin for [Pakistan cricket] after Misbah and Younis. Sri Lanka won't be an easy opponent," Dawn quoted Arthur as saying.

Though assured of a good display by the team, the head coach said that it will not be easy tackling Sri Lanka and we are not treating them lightly.

Brushing the fitness issues concerning leg-spinner Yasir Shah, Arthur said Yasir is "fully fit" and was bowling well in the nets.

Arthur said one or two uncapped players will be given a chance to make their debuts during the first test.

A total of five uncapped players have been selected in the Pakistan squad for the Test series.

Young pacer Mir Hamza, all-rounder Bilal Asif, left-arm spinner Mohammad Asghar and batsmen Haris Sohail and Usman Salahuddin are the uncapped players making their way into the side. (ANI)
