SLIM landed on the lunar surface about 55 kilometres east of the original target landing site. The successful soft landing made Japan the fifth country to softly land a spacecraft on the Moon.

SLIM: The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency's (JAXA's) Moon lander soft-landed on the lunar surface on January 19, 2024, and five days later, the LRO passed over the landing site and captured a picture of SLIM.
