1. Punjabi singer-turned-politician Sidhu Moose Wala shot dead in Punjab's Mansa district.

2. BJP declares 16 candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections including Union Ministers Piyush Goyal and Nirmala Sitharaman from Maharashtra and Karnataka.

3. Congress paarty also announced names of 10 candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections and left out the names of prominent party leaders therefore giving rise to dissatisfaction within the party.

The Apex court's judgement states that :-

• Sex workers in India are entitled to dignity and equal protection as any other citizen under the law.

• The three judge bench comprising of Justices L Nageswara Rao, BR Gavai and AS Bopanna emphasized that the administration should take steps to safeguard the rights of sex workers by reiterating that "every individual in this country has the right to a dignified life under Article 21 of the Constitution.”

• The police should not harassed by arrestiting them, raiding brothels or penalise them as voluntary sex work is not illegal.

• Media should take  “utmost care to not reveal the identities of sex workers, during arrest, raid and rescue operations, whether as victims or accused and not publish or telecast any photo that would result in disclosure of such identities”.

• Additional Solicitor General Jayant Sud had conveyed to the Court that the Government has “certain reservations” on some of the panel’s recommendations. 

 • The Court has asked the Government to respond to the panel’s suggestions in six weeks. 

• The Supreme Court has asked the State governments  to do a survey of protective homes under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.
