“I think last year was a classic example. We all know he was not 100 percent fit. You have time, but he has hardly played any cricket. It's not going to be easy,” told Anil Kumble to JioCinema.

The retention of MS Dhoni by the five-time champions, Chennai Super Kings, came as no surprise, especially after the World Cup-winning former India skipper led them to their fifth title in 2023.

Despite grappling with knee injury concerns, MS Dhoni displayed remarkable resilience by participating in all 16 matches throughout last year's IPL season.

On June 1st, 2023, MS Dhoni underwent a successful left knee surgery at Mumbai's Kokilaben Hospital.

Following the knee surgery, MS Dhoni was discharged promptly and returned to Ranchi to focus on rest and rehabilitation.
